Hong Kong is a place in the world that is difficult, if not impossible to categorize. It’s not a city, but an administrative region. The local culture is extremely savvy, and dedicated to local artists, musicians, and performers, but it is also one of the most cosmopolitan places in the world. The connections to the global scene are deep and complex, and it is sometimes a reflector of this, and sometimes the one that gets reflected.
A visit to a Hong Kong hotel will reveal an urban scene that is rich and vibrant, and constantly changing with the times. Writers and poets have always been drawn to Hong Kong, and in the history of performance art , so have performance artists.
Thanks to the work of the researcher and intellectual, Wen Yau , there is a history of live art in Hong Kong that’s under construction, in process of articulation. In tandem with the development of the art form, the history is incomplete, but already revealing threads that reflect, and indeed, affect, the form all over the world.
The roots could be traced back to 1975, when an artist named Kwok poured bone over a sculpture. The developments since then have moved in the directions that are parallel to the global directions, and it’s enough to warrant a closer look, to discover where the paths of cultures diverge and converge.

More and more small companies are realizing that their web presence is more than a simple website with a list of services or products and contact information. A twenty-first century company, whether Fortune 500 or one-person consulting shop, needs a fully formed web presence that is tailored to their industry, their locality, and their audience. Marketing is more than handing out business cards , and the first wave of company websites were simply business cards on the internet. Search engine marketing companies like Elixir Interactive specialize in helping organizations understand how to market online to reach audiences through search engines and social media portals.
A retail or wholesale company needs a website with fully functioning shopping functions and intuitive search and browsing capabilities. A service oriented company should provide expert advice and proof of qualifications along with ways to sample services and connect with sales agents. All companies should be creating a presence that extends beyond their main website. Whether that is a blog, a Facebook page, or their own video channel such as Elixir Interactive tv , it should offer potential clients and current customers an opportunity to interact with the company in as many ways as possible. Ideally, a company should have as many alternative channels as they can effectively maintain to reach the widest possible audience.

It’s a place that’s never afraid to be far ahead of the curve, where new technologies merge with cultural traditions. Sometimes there are even moments where international traditions enter into the fold, and Singapore is revealed as a place that’s truly global in focus. This, in part, explains the appeal of Singapore Hotels , but then one would also have to consider the exciting night life, and public events that keep the urban landscape buzzing with activity.
It all comes together with the Singapore Grand Prix. It takes place every fall, and the edition for 2010 has some rather exciting touches that really demonstrate the remarkable innovation in the city-state, as well as its openness to work from all over the world. The digital artist Tom Carr has been invited to show in this years Digital Nights Showcase , an event that welcomes the Grand Prix in an exciting local fashion.
The centerpiece of his work here is a digital red carpet. He projects a virtual red carpet over the sidewalk where celebrities and guests enter the arena. This is a fascinating move, because it not only keeps the red carpet tradition alive, but merges it quite delightfully with all the possibilities of technological innovation, and puts the place right in the center of where it all happens.

The history of law is always revealing turns of events that make the world run in new directions. How a culture gets to where it is today, legally speaking, is based on a long series of accidents that come to offer provisions for the unforeseeable. It almost seems as though accidents are the only constant, and they can help to construct a world of law based on what to do when things go wrong.
It’s as applicable in the laws of the nineteenth century as it is in the work done today by Fort Lauderdale wrongful death attorneys . There are connections to the past that reveal that no situation is really ever truly novel, that things have gone wrong before, and people have had to decide how to handle the situation at hand.
Today’s wrongful death lawsuits owe their legal history to events that happened in 1841. The Sonning Cutting Railway accident set a precedent that made it necessary to establish laws that are still followed to this day. The legal procedures may vary from nation to nation, or even state to state, but the impetus is the same. In that infamous event, a train was derailed because the ground was too soft, and it’s something that the railway was ultimately responsible for. Having to contend with the memory of the deaths of 8 innocent people paved the way for a legal recourse that is still very useful, and necessary, to this day.

Modern interior design is rooted in minimalism. Clean lines, neutral colors, and minimal or no decoration. Imagine science fiction views of the future: Houses or apartments with streamlined furniture and lots of geometric shapes and polished surfaces. When designing a home or room to the modern style or even just wanting a hint of that influence, you’ll want to keep all these elements in mind.
Start by choosing neutral colors that suit your mood and personal style. These provide the backdrop for the modern lines, shapes, and textures that will define your space.
Furniture and accessories in a modern design should be functional, not just pleasing to the eye. The reduction of clutter allows visitors to enjoy the clean, negative spaces, so create a chotskies-free environment. Keep accent pieces to a minimum and only pick furniture that you’ll actually need. Remember: in modern design, less is definitely more.
Floors should incorporate the neutral color palette of the space, but are a great place to add some asymmetry in lines or shapes. Consider using something as bold as polished concrete for not only the floors, but countertops or fireplaces.
You won’t want to forget your windows in this endeavor. Consult with experts like those at Next Day Blinds Rockville to make sure the materials, colors, and textures of your blinds, shades, or shutters fit with the overall modern effect.
Lastly, make sure your room is bathed in light , both from natural sources and from well-chosen fixtures and lamps that echo the colors and shapes of the rest of the design.
