Singapore Dog Brides
Posted by Doug in Folklore at 4:09 pm This was not how I expected to marry, but I never expected to marry. It’s not a good idea, where I come from. My family history includes a number of marriages, and at the end of their lives, they all died. But sometimes I can be convinced to take a chance on something, and I am rather a slave to beauty, and that might be the one thing I am always willing to investigate. When I come to Singapore, I enjoy the Indian food in the restaurants more than just about anything. It is as exquisite as anything in the mother country, and the only thing missing really is the mother.
But there was one episode which I need to spill, here, where who knows who might read it, but anonymously I might release my own obligations, and send it out to the ether where it may dissipate and do no harm. I was of a marrying age for a very short time, and imagined it would be a long time because I had no intention of marrying, because of the history I mention. However, when I saw her, that was the moment that time started for me, and the sand started to fall to mark my years and months toward death. I fell into love and into time. It shouldn’t matter that the bride is also a dog.
I fell into love and after we would meet, she would sneak away, and I would not see her again for days. In love’s infancy, days are painful, and even thought the pain is sweet, it is also unbearable, so I contrived to fake sleeping and follow her when she left. She would run to the river’s edge, and there, she would dig around under a brush, and find a skin, which she would put on. This immediately turned her into a dog, and she would swim across the water and, I imagine, go to where other dogs go, and perhaps lick things they come across. It did not matter to me that she was a dog, but the village would prefer if she were not, but then again when I look at the family history, this is a sure improvement.
