Modern Art Museum Fort Worth

Joe and Rita went to Fort Worth, Texas together on a three day trip. They went because Joe was sent there for a business merging negotiation meeting and Rita hadn’t gotten away for quite a while and she thought that would be the perfect opportunity to. So, they stayed in the fabulous room in one of the Fort Worth luxury hotels that was provided by Joe’s employer and Rita enjoyed an early morning massage while Joe prepared for his meeting.

After Joe left Rita decided she would visit some sites in the city that were of interest to her, but probably not to Joe. One of these was the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. She wasn’t overly familiar with this museum, though visiting major museums in cities was almost always one of her top priorities when Rita traveled. Almost instantly she was attracted to the current featured exhibit of Susan Rothenberg’s work. She loved the early horse paintings and their special arrangements. The name of the exhibit is Moving in Place, and Rita thought this was extremely appropriate for the work.

She then moved on to the museum’s permanent collection and was impressed with the extent of it. She also appreciated what she understood to be their holistic or evolutionary perspective on a permanent collection. As she walked along the walls and through the corridors she made mental notes of specific work from artists she was previously unfamiliar with. One of them was the dark self-portrait of Francis Bacon, which she couldn’t stop looking at. As she moved along she stopped in front of a Cubist work with a distinct style. She knew she was looking at Pablo Picasso, but was unfamiliar with the painting in front of her. The title of it is Femme couchee lisant, which in English translates as reclining woman reading. And Rita felt that the painting perfectly represented what she would like to be doing. She ordered a print of this work and now has it hanging in her and Joe’s study.
